We need competition, and Circuit City's bad state as of late has resulted in so many good promotions. At least keep it at the same level it's at now. Walk into CC sometimes to get something rather than Best Buy.

I bought my Toshiba laptop from Circuit City (from the internet actually).

They have good online sales.

They are usually over priced, but you can ocassionally find a deal from them. I did recently buy an 8gb sony flash drive from them for $19.99.

I don't really like BestBuy either... I buy most of my electronics online or from Fry's. I'll ocassionally hit BrandSmart - It has great prices but that place is too much like a fleamarket.

First time I walked into Brandsmart I asked my wife if it was a swapmeet. And lord knows don't ask an employee anything cause if you ain't buying now, they have no time. That's why i miss HiFi Buys. Those guys were knowledgeable. I would get all my information from them and then go some place cheaper to buy! :D

You're right about that. The other thing about BrandSmart is the employees work on commission, so I have been walking around with something before and had an employee basically grab it out of my hands to put it in the computer so they could print out their sticker to put on it. They didn't help me or ring me up, they just wasted my time to give them commission. That ticked me off. I took the sticker off, out of principal of course.

They have some great game promotions but whenever I have gone into the store on release day to pick of one of the advertised games, they don't have it. I then drive over to best buy to pick it up.

Yeah. Love their gift card deals with video games. I bought 3 games since GTA IV from them due to that.

I am going to go over during lunch to see if they have Fable II. They are offering a $15 iTunes Gift card with it.

I went to the circuit city in macon to buy saints row 2 for the $10 gift card thing, but since they're moving to a new location they didn't have any video games...had to go to best buy to get it. Glad they're moving though. The original store is way too cramped and in a bad location. They should be getting a lot more business in macon from the new location.

Just to note, they have never had a new game out on the shelf, but they always had them in the back. I remember for all games, you have to go the customer service desk and ask for the game in person. It's odd, since they lose sales this way if a person doesn't ask, but that's what I've experienced.

Happened with GTA IV, MGS4, and Dragon Ball Z.

circuit city and best buy can both be big rip offs on a lot of items. we have an office depot credit card here at work for purchases that we need that day or don't want to order and wait a few days to get it, but they always seem to have things on sale. gotten lots of good deals there for just basic technology stuff.

I always thought it was kinda funny having the word "fry" associated with electronics :D
Sounds like you're just asking for trouble!

The last time I went to CC my wife and I picked out a washer and dryer. The sales person hassled us so relentlessly to purchase an extended warranty that we got angry enough to cancel the entire transaction. I'll never forget the look of terror on the associate's and manager's faces when I said, "Since y'all can't seem to understand that we do not wish to purchase the warranty, let's just forget the whole thing". I'm not kidding. It was that bad.

That was about 10 years ago. I guess maybe they've improved their approach since they're still somehow operating. But I'll never know cause I ain't going back. I don't like to have to tell a salesperson "NO" more than 20 times.

Yeah, but it's not just CC. All those places push the warranties, and what I really hate about it is the way they try to make it seem like only a complete idiot wouldn't buy the ex. warranty. I'm with you on that - about face and leave 'em hangin!

As a business owner myself, consumers need to make up their minds on what they want to support. Either you are going to continue to support those businesses that push warranties that you don't agree with, or you are going to take your money elsewhere.

Those warranties allow businesses like TRU to offer those GREAT specials on video games like Buy 2 get one FREE.....NEWSFLASH....There are not enough margins on video games....I don't care what platform you play...to offer $60 off a game, especially new release games. Those specials are loss leaders and companies make up the losses when you purchase other items in the store as well as extended warranties, which make up a nice profit for these big box retailers.

I worked at Best Buy so can't show any support.
