Ryan has been sacked 9 times and Flacco has been sacked 14 times. Ryan went 150+ snaps without a sack. Not sure how you can say the Ravens line is better than the Falcons based on those stats.

Their running game > ours this season. I'm not sure why people dont factor this in...

They have been talking about QB's under pressure do not play well. This is not entirely true. Flacco is taking more sacks than Ryan. Despite the lack of the run game for three games before Dallas, Ryan was not touched. Obviously during that time the Falcons line was better. There are several QB's who have taken more sacks and have still put up better stats than Ryan.

The Falcons offense has underachieved. THe Falcons are the only current team with a WR, TE, and RB who were pro bowlers in the previous season. This offense has too many weapons to be anemic. IS ir Ryan, Mularkey, the O-line, the opposing defense, the run game, the WRs. Either way this team should be performing much better offensively.

I hope you're right about that last sentence. But what exactly are you basing that on?

His reads, the decisions he makes, the fact that his pre-snap reads end up with him throwing to spots where the receiver is going to be instead of waiting for someone to break open, the fact that he runs the no-huddle so efficiently, and a couple of years watching him tear up the ACC.

Matt Ryan is doing things no quarterback at his level should be. He doesn't have the greatest arm, but he is incredibly accurate and incredibly mature. He is intelligent and makes the right throw at the right time. He will only get better, and he's already pretty incredible.

A lot of things that people fail to point out, is that, not only is Joe Flacco playing better this year than Matt Ryan, he is doing it at 4.5 times less salary !

Matt Ryan 6 years 66 mil
Joe Flacco 5 years 11.8 mil

The talent evaluators all agreed that Matt Ryan was way more polished, but Flacco has a higher ceiling. You're starting to see that now...

Why are some people offended by the fact that Flacco is having a better season that Ryan? Is it because he has been ordained the best QB to start straight out of college since Marino? Flacco is the better QB at this point. As you stat guys would say " Look at the numbers ". I think going forward Flacco will develop just as well if not better than Ryan. Just because Ryan is on the team that I root for doesn't make him the best young QB. He isn't Flacco is.

I don't know but **** 29th in defense vs 13th in defense makes a frickin difference even on the offensive side of the game.

not saying Flacco wouldn't do good here, but **** Ryan might be better in Baltimore too

work out a trade in Madden lol

Why compare after 7 games? Because it's convenient now? The fact is, Baltimore has the #10 rushing offense in the league, Atlanta the #17. Baltimore has the #13 defense in the league, Atlanta the #29. I mean, all things considering, you would think since the Raven's are performing so much better, that Flacco's stats would be far superior... but that's just not the case.
Give Flacco his credit. As of now he's better. Still a long way to go.

Still think a rookie or young QB's best friend besides a stout OL, is good if not great defense..

Even though the Ravens defense is aging I take the whole unit over the Falcons D for the next 3 years and take my chances....... before anybody says but what does that have to do with a QB's play. Average starting field position for one and **** just knowing going into a game you aren't gonna have to score 30 points everytime to win...

If you guys are so enamoured with Flacco - that's great. It doesn't help the Falcons and it doesn't affect our team in any way shape or form.

If you hate the player on our team - too bad - either switch teams or learn to live with it. I have news for you - Flacco is not now, nor will he ever be, our QB.

I would suggest you find some purple tights and sing Go Ravens or just relax and accept the fact that our QB is Matt Ryan.

If we have to face them in the Superbowl or during regular season - then you can cream all over yourself about Flacco.

Until then - what does it matter? Not on our team, not in our Division, not in our Conference. We don't play them this year and unless he is on your Fantasy team or you are a Ravens fan - I don't get the obsession and drooling you guys do over him.

No one who is a Falcon fan cares one way or the other about Flacco - he doesn't affect our team, our schedule or our year.

Stop your panting, you sound obsessive.

Flacco is having a better year than Ryan - mostly due to the play of his line and running game.

Ryan had a better year last year - mostly due to the play of his line (relative to expectations) and running game.

They've both great and both have different strengths.

I'm very glad either way that we've got Matt.

After 7 games, both teams are 4-3, but look at the stats:

Matt Ryan- 1,649 12 TD, 9 INT, QB Rating of 82.4, Completion Percetage of 59.7.

Joe Flacco - 1,849 12 TD, 5 INT, QB Rating of 95.6, Completion Percentage of 66.0.

Kinda neck to neck, but Flacco is playing much better then Matt Ryan so far this year.

no offense! we are barely half way to the season......there's lot of football to be played.

1 game can swing these so called stat sheets in your favor......to be honest, as long as Matty Ice get's us 'W' ....I dont give a **** who gets crowned on papers.

Example: Matt Schaub / Philip Rivers ......least discussed in NFL

On the surface it appears that way, but the Ravens had lost 3 in a row before they became 4-3, but Flacco has played well I agree, but still, He's no MATT RYAN!

Woohoo. Angry Tandy.

I totally agree. I understand they will always draw comparisons but we already have 116 threads that have Flacco in the title in this forum. More recently... since October 8th we have 200 posts with Flacco's name in them. News flash... we haven't played them in the last month.

Give it a rest.

I appreciate the post, and the comparison stats, but hey, like "Smitty" puts it...let's judge Ryan on his "body of work" when the season is over. Then we'll know more about how to evaluate our Quarterback. Personally...while I think Flacco is an above average QB, I'll take "Matty Ice" any day of the week!!! I think his "intangibles" far exceed Flacco's, and in my opinion, time will prove that out. Of course, maybe I'm a "homer".

Right now, Ryan is in a bit of a "funk", but folks, he's played against some dang good defenses the past 3 games, so I'm gonna cut him a little slack, and say he's going to be just fine.

I really don't know why someone would want to compare Matt Ryan with another QB, anyway. I could really care less, myself. He's OUR Quarterback, and I'm behind him 1,000%.

GO, YOU DIRTY BIRDS!!!

FalconJim.

Once everyone is done placing their knees next to flacco's toes, can we give little man ray rice some credit? the guy's been ridiculous.

Thats actually a myth, considering the fact that the Ravens line has more talent and throwing it more is a byproduct of that system. They do tend to allow flacco to take 7 step drops and bide his time before throwing, sacks happen when you throw it that much. Our line as impressive as it seems isn't as good, thus our scheme being predicated on getting rid of the ball fast or using playaction.

Also we have no one as good as Rice to catch the ball in the backfield and run.
