OK guys, Here are my comments from the Saints game, again, based off Logic, not emotion.

Passing Offense: Matt Ryan, has had a really difficult 3 games in a row. The OLine protected better than in Dallas, but we also were running a lot, I mean a lot of 2 receiver routs. When we ran more than 2 receivers, Ryan had no time. I will say, our RB’s picked up the blitz’s fairly well. Jenkins has lost his hands, he needs to find them. Gonzo had a very good game. I believe without Harry Douglas, we have no type of option for the underneath stuff. Maybe this is where we need to utilize Weems.

Rushing Offense: The OLine, FB’s, and WR’s really did a good job of running. Turner, finally stayed front side most of the night and when he did cut or bounce outside, he caught the defense in over-pursuit. He also displayed displayed burst and power like he did in 2008. We needed that.

Rushing Defense: Not great, but not bad. We still cannot stop anyone on third and short (minus the goal line stand against Chicago). I believe missing Thomas Johnson, really hurt us in this game. I’m disappointed in Trey Lewis, I have very high expectations for him this year. He plays hard and he hustles, he’s just not having impact on the field. Curtis Lofton continues to be very solid. Eric Coleman did a very good job last night in run support and Brent Grimes, was also very solid in run support.

Passing Defense: Our pressure was very good in the first half, but Brees did a good job of getting the ball out quick. After the first two sacks, NO really only did some 3-5 step drops. The times Brees wanted to go deep, he did a roll out, which were not very successful. I hated to see Jeremy Shockey have such a big night, this was the first time all year where I was disappointed in Stephen Nicholas and our ability to cover the TE. I believe he hurt us more than the WR’s. Colston had those 2-3 catches, but other than that he was relatively quite. Henderson had the one, and that was it. I was pleased with the overall effort of the defense, especially the second half.

Special Teams: We are starting to give up more yards in the Kickoff Coverage units when Keonen wasn’t putting the kickoff in the back of the endzone. This has got to get fixed. Punt coverage was better, but because Keonen was booming the punts with lots of hang time. Jason Elam, had the worse game of his career and this might be his last year. I believe after the season, we bring in another kicker early, to start working him out. Coy Wire is the epitome of a team player and never gives up. Rev Hal was right, the Hickory Stick award should go to him.

Coaching: What ever Mike Smith said at halftime, this team responded. They played hard in the second half.

I believe the second half of this game is much like the second half of the first Tampa Game last year. Where we came out in the second half after getting it handed to us and shutting down the Bucs in the second half. We got beat, but that game was a spring board for success during the reso fot he season. I believe this game will do that for us as well, and I bet you this team has Dec 13th circled on the calendar and this time, it will be in our house.

As a Saints fan, I'll tell you that you've given a fairly logical and balanced assessment of your team. + to your post

Good post man...Agree with everything you said..

About this, I don't think Weems is gonna be a big part of this offense b/c he handles the kick return and PR duties...Might I add he is doing very well at it....I agree we need this underneath stuff, and I don't understand why we don't get Marty Booker involved more...We need to run more 3,4, or even 5 WR sets....Our defense played well enough to keep us in the game, our offense has been pretty "eh" the past three weeks, and I think that has to do with some poor pass protection and inability to run the ball effectively(even though we ran it well yesterday)...Ryan is getting hit a lot more now, and i believe we do short drops b/c our OL..

How this team responds on a short week at home against the lowly deadskins will say alot about where we are.

Consider this...

Our two primary "X-factor" (Douglas and Norwood) threats were out this week and one has been out all season.

Our first and second round draft picks are out for the season.

A key CB acquisition is out (Brian Williams).

Somebody smeared grease all over Michael Jenkins hands and he can't wash it off.

Yet we are 4-3 with our three losses coming against playoff caliber teams on the road. We played the Saints down to the final 3 seconds.

Things are not ideal but the team has made the best of a rough season.

I like dahl and clabo, but they are not athletic. Even Blaylock has not turned out to be the guard we need. But like the announcers said, we are young on the OL. Our weakest link on offense is our Oline, they are getting beatup fairly regularly.

Thanks man, I do this recap every week, usually after watching the tape about 4 times. Usually give a more detailed analysis, but I forgot to tape it last night.

Blalock is above average at best...Dahl has severely regressed...I still believe Clabo should be resigned to play RG next year...

Man I completely agree, and believe we are going to do well down the stretch. Like I said, this team plays with integrity, character, and professionalism. NO has not hit any real adversity, we will see how they do. I still think we have a shot at the division.

I was really happy we got Blaylock in the Draft. I'm not willing to give up on him, but I have seen him get pushed back a lot, and he is one of our bigger lineman. Dahl, better get his act together, because I have a feeling, next years FA period will be a RG and RT, but I would like to see how Reynolds turns out, he's got good football Genes.

He will, I would rather have him starting to hit his stride now, then blow it up at the beginning only to fizzle out in the end.

Saints weren't and are not the top passing team. Their running game is rated higher than the passing game. #1 offense, yes.

if this game is what it took for turner to come out of his shell, then it is more than worth the loss. The reemergence of turner is vital if we want to make a run in the playoffs

Sam Baker seems to have had a little slump as well. I hope it's just a one-off thing because at his best, he does pretty well against anyone who plays on his side.

The Saints this year have had a lot of adversity. We lost our TE in the beginning of the year for the year. Two of our running back have missed several games due to injury. Last week we lost our FB for the year. Our number 1 draft choice was hurt and missed a few games. He is not starting yet but he has been great on special teams. Our defense linemen Ellis got hurt last week and is out for 4-6 weeks. Our WR Lance Moore missed several games. One of our LB's is hurt and missed the last couple of weeks. One of our OL is hurt and has been out for a couple of weeks and my be out a few more. All of these guys or starters except for our #1 draft choice. I hope you realize now the Saints have been and still are dealing with a lot of adversity.
