Does anyone have the clip of Young talking about Ryan after the game? Thanks.

I have it...in my head :)

1) Ryan is the best Sophmore QB in the history of the NFL (yes...he really did say it AFTER the game).
2) Ryan makes one "dumb" throw each week for the last 3 weeks...you just can't excuse losing track of the safety.
3) Long term, he is a future star in this league.
4) The mentioned something along to the lines of: "The fact that he gets evaluated as a veteran, instead of a second year QB, is indicative of how unusual he is." I butchered that quote, but I think I got the idea correct.

Those are some of the points I remember most clearly if you are talking about the on-field banter on ESPN after that game.

I'd love to see the clip if anyone has it as well.

Thanks, its appreciated. Nice to put the frustrations in perspective. I agree with Steve on the dumb throw too, only one int seems like just a panic play which was overthrowing TG in the bears game. He has had some errant throws and misthrows but not on the interceptions, and every QB has those (see: Brees 2nd half.)

Steve Young basically said Ryan is way ahead of where a second year quarterback should be. Ryan is the best second year QB he's ever seen. Ryan is on the Trajectory to be a great QB in the league for years to come.

Some people (fans) keep flaming Ryan because he's not like, Brady, Manning, Farve or Brees. You have to take into account he's not a 7-15 year veteran. Think back at where Manning was in his second year. Brees struggle his second year as a starter for San Diego. He was so bad the Charges drafted Phillip Rivers in the 1st round.

Right not Ryan is going through growing pains but in 2-3 years he will be lights out.

I didn't see it but I've heard Young talk about Matt Ryan many times... along with Trent Dilfer and others. They just absolutely glow about the guy. Moreso than even some of the big time Ryan kool-aid drinkers on this board.

We got ourself a real darn good QB. The people complaining about him have been Falcons fans since maybe last year and clearly haven't been around for the years where we've had little to be excited about.

Out of all the problems we have on this team, Ryan ain't one of them. For a 2nd year QB, he's playing well but I think he is a guy that will learn from his mistakes and will be a star in this league for a long long time.

I believe Ryan is the better QB, but Flacco deserves some respect for what he's doing in Baltimore. He's a **** fine QB, I didn't think he was that impressive last year, but from the times I've seen him, and his stat lines, he's very very good. I think he gets a lot of dump offs, but I've seen some GREAT deep passes.

The biggest difference in the yards Flacco puts up and Ryan puts up is yards after the catch. He dumps off a lot to Ray Rice or his other RB's and racks up yards that way. The difference in YAC from Baltimore to Atlanta is stifling.

Baltimore
Passing Yards per game 264.1
Passing Yards per attempt 7.396
Receiving Yards after catch per game 137
Receiving Yards after catch per attempt 3.84
Net In the Air Yards for QB per game 127.1
Net In the Air Yards for QB per attempt 3.6

Atlanta
Passing Yards per game 235.6
Receiver Yards after catch per game 96.7
Receiving Yards after Catch per attempt 2.9
Net In the Air Yards for QB per game 138.9
Net In the Air Yards for QB per attempt 4.2

So, if not for the YAC numbers of Baltimore - Ryan would be leading in yards by 83 yards on 17 less attempts. Another way to look at it - if Ryan had Baltimores YAC numbers - he would be at over 1931 yards for the season.

As for the rest of the numbers - it's the interceptions that kills Ryan. Ryan has 12 passing and 1 rushing TD to 9 interceptions. Flacco has 12 passing TD to 5 interceptions.

The yards after the catch and the interceptions make up the difference in passer rating between the 2 QB's.

We really need an explosive guy for Ryan to dump off too who can break a long run. Norwood is a monster at doing just that but he's injured. Same thing with Douglas too. We need to run more screen plays as well, keep Ryan fresh out there while also getting potentially long gains too.

The sooner Norwood gets healthy, the better our team will be. I hope he's fit enough to play against Carolina. That's going to be a tough game.

While I definitely don't want this to turn into a Ryan vs. Flacco I will say that while Flacco has played better over the past few weeks there is no way I would trade QB's.

It seems to be a number of factors. 1st and foremost is Ryan struggling a bit. 2nd is bad luck for Ryan (tipped passes, hail mary passes from behind) that lead to the ints. 3rd is from what I have seen Clayton has developed somewhat and is probably better than Jenkins, though I can't tell. Rice is definitely a great receiving threat and our guy has been hurt.

The Ravens get a lot of YAC, which is good for Flacco's stats. He still makes some nice throws, like that long TD throw against the Bronco's last week, and I don't have a problem saying that because he is a good QB. But if Vilma didn't have mad ups, Ryan throws a beauty of a TD to Gonzalez so I'm not too worried.

Not to dismiss his accomplishments, but Flacco has two drain circling teams that have contributed to his stats and Ryan has zero. However, if we had a better defense I would have no problem with Flacco as our qb. He is a good fit in raven land.

Ryan is far from elite, we can only hope he will get there in a few years. Until he is able to go through his reads past the first option he won't be shat.

He is a very average QB at this point and will continue to turn the ball over multiple times per game, just like college
