I'm a relative newcomer to Falcons football - I signed on in 2006 when my son joined the team. And I've only been on this board for about a year, so I didn't really have a handle on the depth of the Saints/Falcons rivalry until now. What gets me is that we're two days removed from the game and a busload of these jackhole New Orleans fans are still trolling TATF. Contesting every point that's made, running their mouths, thumping their chests, re-defining what it means to be a jerk. I've never trolled any other team's board because all that smacking just seems like a waste of time. I get why some people do it but I can't for the life of me imagine hanging around for days after the game. It's like maybe they're just not that confident after all. Like they know their team is good but they're still captive to their mostly miserable history. Underneath all the bluster I'm sensing genuine fear, and why not? You can bet these guys still keep their paper bags in the sock drawer just in case.

It would be one thing if they whooped us, they just squeaked by, got lucky. They really have no lives. Wait till we crush them in the dome.

I hate the Saints fans for all of these reasons and more, but neither Saints nor Falcons fans can talk about history.

And no, I don't think those paper bags are usable anymore. They must have gotten pretty wet...

I've always hated the Aints more than any other team. Now, hopefully, many newer fans can see why. They and their fans really believe their press clippings.

I can't wait until we take this division (and yes, we will take this division this year).

Once that happens, their fans will disappear like a bunch of cockroaches when the lights come on.

I get it that the Falcons history is a little bumpy, too. But I was a Bengals fan before I came here, so just about anybody else looks good to me.

Dudes its not just that. Its OLD FASHIONED HATE, The Giants have the Cowboys, we have the Saints, their our biggest rival from the start. We were both in the NFC West with the Rams and the 49ers. And for the saints to be be right down the road for us, it just goes way back. People can say they hate the Bucs and the panties. I hate the Saints worst. They are our biggest Rivalry hands down. I just wish the media would start saying its like the Cowboys and Giants, because IT IS. ;)

I'm hoping Saints finally can out muscle the division like the 49ers used to do, season after season. Make these other teams in the division our punching bags.

I'm tired of tight games and rivalries! I want to DOMINATE ALL!!!!

I don't get it, either. I have been a Falcons fan for around 12 years and have been through ups and downs with our team. I have taken s*** when we were bad and heard nothing but silence when we are doing well. But, I have NEVER gone around bragging and acting like an idiot. I just walk around with my head held high when they are giving us crud and smile and feel proud when we are doing well.

Maybe it's a measurement (mine is bigger than yours and it's not) thing or a paper bag thing. But, I have dealt with Saints fans even here in California and I can tell you that they are all extremely obnoxious when they feel they have reason to be and then mysteriously disappear like last season when things aren going there way. Either way, I have yet to meet a Saints fan that shows humility and acts with class and respect for others. Go figure!

OP, if you want a REAL dose of what Saints fans are like, come to the game December 13 and experience it first hand. Only then will you understand why, if America needed an enema, New Orleans is where they would stick the hose.

In reality, I know several people from that area who are not Saints fans and they are decent, productive members of society. As nice as any you would ever want to meet. There is just something about combining Louisiana citizens and that dog-squeeze of a football franchise they have had down there that creates something freakish and abnormal.

Just don't judge the whole state. It's the Super Dome that has become the Island of Doctor Moreau.

I have been at the Ga dome for all our rivals, and panties and bucs can be bad, but I have friends that are both panties and bucs. They actually do have decent fans, I can't say that for the Saints every game I have been at, and ones that I know are irritating as he_ll, and even worse My BOSS is a saints fan. :(

My theory asserts that trolls are incapable of getting satisfaction from their own team's victory. They resort to taking delight in other fan's dissatisfaction.

I'd bet that when things go bad, trolls are the first to criticize their own team (trade player A, fire the coach, etc).

You've got to wonder how little self-esteem they have. Pity to the troll, for all they can do is monitor the internet - and type.

LOL!! I dont get why people troll either but some of you are whining so much maybe they think its funny to hang around and torment you. I mean it obviously irks some of you. Some of the threads in TAFT have been laughable but it should be expected as it usually goes into self destruct mode after a loss. As for your theory of saints fans being scared or fearful of you that brought about a slight chuckle. The fact is we stunk up the place last week and had tons of mistakes against you guys and still won both contests. Thats not smack talk its the truth.

you shouldnt judge a fan base by a handful of d-bags. you think there arent some jerk falcon fans that made the trip on monday night and dont even get me started on all the smack falcon fan ran when you made the run for the superbowl or the fact that every other post for the last week has been some comment about katrina or welfare. it happens.

I've been a Falcon fan since I was old enough to understand football. Having two older brothers who love the game sped up the process. I've been watching Falcon football since the early seventies.

The Saints rivalry runs deep. (I actually have an extra hatred for the 49ers based on their success and our twice annual thumping)

Saints fans don't know how to act because they've so infrequently been in these situations. Do you realize that the Saint's franchise had been in existence for 21 years before they finally had a winning season? 21 years? That's long enough to concieve a child, teach him to walk and talk, attend hundreds of youth activities, teach him how to hit a curve ball, teach them to drive, send them to prom, attend graduation, pick a college, and ask him to pick up a six pack of beer on the way home after their junior year.

Whew!
I'd wear a bag on my friggin' head too.

Now! That's what I'm talking about! Good, honest, bad to the bone hate! I can honestly say that no one hates the Saints as much as I do. I hate the fans and all of the people from their home towns. I hate all of their players and all of their families, every single one. I wish the Superdome would burn to the ground and all high ground with it. Other than that...I'm good! Oh, the parasols! I wish they would all burst into flames whenever my beloved Falcons play them. Peace! (sarcasm).

P.S. I've made a sincere effort to tone it down.

Not a young guy here...in my 50's. And a proud Saints fan too.

I have been to MANY Saints / Falcon games in the Superdome over the years. Please take your head out of your butt and believe me there are PLENTY of obnoxious fans from Atlanta too. Atlanta fans used to pull up in front of the Superdome in chartered buses on gameday and start talking trash as they stepped from the bus. The smack would continue all game long inside the dome too. Only on those Sundays when the Falcons lost would they ever stop with the taunts.

It goes both ways. And I know Saints fans have done the same in Atlanta.

It's and fashioned rilvary at its best (or worst).

Get over it people.....it's a football game.

Pedigree as in long term talent? Not an issue. They find talent everywhere, do you dispute this?

We have the talent evaluators, the coaches and the coveted elite QB.

The holy trinity of championship. B)

It's probably because when people lurk, they just read the comments and maybe chuckle. But Falcon fans?? Not only do many of you say stupid sh** about the Saints team, you then extend it to Saints fans and ultimately the entire city of New Orleans. When I say stupid unfounded sh**, I really mean stupid unfounded sh**. Never seen anything like it on any other board. Not the Bucs board, and not the Panthers. Only here.

Then again, I usually hang out in rival central every now and then, and Falcon fans there even avoid this TATF section.
