You have to keep things in perspective. Only a small number of classless scumbags make jokes about events like Katrina. They are a mindless minority, and do not represent the rest of the fans base. Sadly, every team in the NFL has a number of stupid fans who behave like idiots. We had saints fans on here only last week doing the same thing.
The vast majority of fans here were appalled by the tragedy, and I distinctly remember a number of threads about making donations to the disaster appeal and even threads from fans offering assistance to people affected.
You talk about "hating " the Falcons, but if I remember correctly, the Falcons were also amongst the most active organizations in the NFL in supporting the appeal and offering assistance (possibly THE most active team, outside of the Saints) and Warrick Dunn in particular was one of the 'ring leaders' in encouraging other NFL players to donate.
Last thing, since this was posted while i was typing. I stated my reasons for "hating" the falcons in my original post, i don't hate any of you or the actual players of your team. I don't hate Atlanta, having been there multiple times and also being a Braves fan. Mine is a football hate, which is normal and expected for division rivals with our history.
The donations and kindness that was provided by many around the country, Atlanta included, was wonderful, and while most of it did go to New Orleans, (which if you read my original post i'm not from)some trickled into MS also. I teach at a middle school and we got a few donations of clothes for some of our kids that lost their homes.
Anyway, i will say one more time:
1. I hate Falcons from a purely Saints/Falcons rivalry perspective.
2. I don't hate the city of Atlanta or Falcons fans in general
3. If you are from the south and make racist comments, you deserve to be called worse than "redneck" but i'll leave it there.
4. I hope you have a good season
5. Have a Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas.
6. I'm out. May or may not be back when we play again. Its time to go (hopefully) beat the Panthers.
