First its JA98 then its Grimes, then it moves on to Houston, back to Grimes, then to O-Line, then Turner, throw Coach Smith in there and now..............Matt Ryan! I am talking about our asinine, non football informed, embarrassing, STUPID, laughing stock of the NFL fans. Ok I can understand bitching about JA98, Grimes, or Houston.(a little) But calling for Smith to step down, saying our O-line sucks, Turner is a bust, and now Ryan sucks? You people turn my stomach. Not to mention that you guys are a major embarrassment to this team and to this board and quite frankly to me also. I go to a lot of different boards and talk about our Falcons. Some are good conversations about Football. Many descends to just smack talk which is ok too. But every board I visit everyone says that our fans are a joke. I use to defend our board to the hilt. Not anymore. You people are an embarrassment to all who are football savvy on this board. I know the masses have ranked us as the 4th hardest schedule, but everyone knows that playing 4 teams coming off their bye's vaults us to the hardest schedule in the NFL! And guess what.........WE HAVE A WINNING RECORD! I hope and pray all this garbage that is up on this board right now is just from the bandwagon fans we picked up last year. I just sit back and look at my computer screen and say "There is no way a real fan of the Falcons is this stupid!"

It's nothing wrong to question the direction your team is going. I have a friend that is very wishy washy when it comes to believing we can beat some teams. I tell him all the time that we are not like the Clevelands, Detroits, and Tampa bays of the NFL and that there is still plenty of season left for this team to go on a run and make the playoffs.

Man you need to read it again! Never said all fans here. and "you people" remark is directed at the dumbazz's that are calling for Smith to step down, and calling Turner and Ryan a bust!
I don't care what happens on other boards. Never said this crap was only on our board. Just said that I visit other boards where I defend this one. If you are going to flame someone at least comprehend the thread!

To be honest this one is on the mods, this message board is horribly setup to allow brand new users from any free service email system to sign up and troll the board in about 2 mins. They recently put in a user rating system but do not even enforce the ratings so yet again it does no good.

A few simple rules could be changed on this message board that would make it harder for your average troll to make a scene here but for some reason the mods won't take the time to do anything about it.

If they implemented a 48 hrs wait period for new users to post and you had to have 100 posts to create a new thread the trolling crap here would be alot less.

Seems the mods want the trolling chaos here or are to lazy to do anything about it.

Aren't most message boards this way? I know most blogs are, especially the one's in the ajc. Not disagreeing with your post, just trying to get some perspective here. I sign up to different message boards all the time in little or no time and witness just as much mindless ish talking going on everywhere else (if not worse) than what goes on here. The one thing I would like to see is the mods make it where you could sign up and respond to a thread instantly, but 30 days before you could start your own thread as a newbie.

What don't you get? People on other boards say our fans are a joke. I said "I use to defend our board to the hilt." That means I was on other boards defending our fans. I don't get why this is so hard to understand! lol!

Caddieman, I'm sure you're directing your disdain at a select few of us. As a fan since '78,
I think we've really only been on the map since we got Vick (call it what you want, but as
far as media coverage, it's true), and a huge influx of new "fans" arrived. These folks
most likely did not having a good working knowledge of the game of professional football
and, thus, did not have the patience or understanding of how things go. Couple that with
the overwhelming majority of transplants to the Atlanta area with no true civic pride, and
you can see why this board can be full of whiners.

Most message boards from professional entities like this one have rules in place to not allow a user using a free email account to sign up and troll a board in under 5 mins. Combine that with the lax nature of our mods and it is a recipe for trolls.

I got curious with the negative rep thing and I looked at a couple of the more notorious morons and guess what you can change your settings to filter out anyone with a negative number so that should take care of it. I don't filter because I think some of the things people say are so foolish they are entertaining.

I don't care what other boards or fans think because guess what they are going to always attack the boards or fans of an opposing team which usually has little to do with reality. Look on the Saints, Eagles, Giants boards, etc. they all have idiots. They all will insult the fans, boards, city, even the family dog because that's what opposing fans do when you go on their board.

Whatever dude. First of all you should try calming down. You lumping "defending our fans" and "defending the board" against the trolls who are not fans into one category is what I don't get. When those people say our fans are a joke, I'm pretty sure it doesn't have that much to do with the trolling that goes on in this forum. That thing about our fans being a joke has been attached to Atlanta from other things for a way longer time this board has been around. Defending our fans and defending this board are two seprate things IMO because the "fans" are being judged by things like getting to the game late, not being boisterous enough during Braves games, not showing the Hawks any love til the playoffs, and things of that nature. Defending this "board" against trolls is a waste of time because that happens everywhere. The good "fans" we do have here in Atlanta AND this board can not and should not have to defend themselves against something like trolling that goes on everywhere. If that was what you were doing sorry you wasted so much effort on a common message board problem. Anyone using the "trolls" here on this msgb to be their only claim as to why they think fans here are a joke are not even worth conversating with IMO because that's beyond dumb.
