Target, Walmart Black Friday ads leaked; Target rolls out holiday price matching for the first time
11:39 am November 18, 2009, by Rana Cash

Among the most sought after Black Friday shopping ads are Walmart’s and Target’s. Tuesday evening, the retailer leaked some of its biggest sale items.

According to CNNMoney.com, the deepest Walmart discounts will be found in high-definition TVs, laptops and Blu-ray players, as well as toys and DVDs.

Items with confirmed prices for the day-after-Thanksgiving sale are a Sanyo 50-inch plasma 720p HDTV for $598, a Magnavox Blu-ray player for $78, a Tom Tom GPS for $59, select children’s clothing for as low as $3, a $7 reversible fleece jacket for kids and adults, and the Barbie Power Wheels Ride-On, a toy Jeep, for $88.

Additionally, the store has reduced prices as much as 50 percent on items beginning Saturday. Popular dolls, activity toys,a 26-inch Vizio HDTV, and gaming packages from Guitar Hero, Band Hero and DJ Hero with a $40 Walmart gift card.

Not to be outdone, a portion of Target’s Black Friday deals have been leaked, and are posted on several sites, including bfads.net.

The bigger news may be that Target will for the first holiday season match competitors’ prices as part of its Low Price Promise initiative. The price match does not apply to limited time sales, like early birds or doorbusters. However, the store will match any competitors’ printed advertisement for identical items. It must be a printed advertisement, and shopper must present the ad when making the purchase.

The price match, which Walmart will continue to have, was piloted at Target in March and rolled out nationally in July. In addition to now having the opportunity to potentially save at both stores, shoppers can also save time by shopping at one store.

Leak my eye, THey purposely let this stuff out to pack their stores. But 78$ for a blue ray is pretty darn cheap but bet they only have like 20 per store, and there will be over 500 people waiting to try to get it. Bait and switch. :P

I'm hoping to find Heroes seasons 1-3 for a decent price this Black Friday.

It was sarcasim...blu ray will never take over. <_<

Advances in media technology usually go with the medium that carries the most data. Since Blu-ray discs carries more data than a regular DVD disc, it stands to reason that blu-ray discs will phase out DVD discs eventually.

I rarely do any Christmas shopping at Walmart, regardless of their deals. It's a 24-hr store. It seems to get in on any of their deals you have to camp out in their electronics section the night before. Screw that.

I'm pretty sure if there is a h3ll it is identical to Walmart on Black Friday. Walmart is already pretty close to h3ll on the "normal" days of the week.

Oh, and in response to the poster who said blu-ray will never replace DVD, I'm sorry to say it's inevitable. I remember hearing "DVD's will never replace video cassettes." I can even remember hearing "that's cute, but there's no way that VHS tapes could ever take the place of a movie theatre." We all know how those two turned out.

People said the same thing about VHS tapes look at them now their like 8 tracks and cassettes. People will have no choice, they will faze DVDs out, because blue ray will become cheaper and cheaper and so will the disks and DVDs will go the way of the dodo. See in about 5 years.

Funny thing is Blue ray and HD-DVD they designed them originally so they would be un-copiable because DVD was a flawed format to begin with they could never fix it. So they figured we'll fix the bootleggers this time around. We'll about a month after blue ray burners appeared now they have new software that can copy blue ray. :P They will never win against a hacker and his computer. :P

People always hate change, the thing that decided it all, the same way VHS decided betas fate. PORN has decided on Blue ray and thats what tipped the ball in blue rays direction, funny how dirty movies control technology. :P

Unless you camp out you'll probably not only end up with zilch but a broken limb too.

I normally show up once people are let in and only then to buy some DVDs and to laugh at all the idiot fighting.

while i agree with success of vhs/dvd, the next is bluray, and it will be champ for a while. unless you live in japan or korea, you dont have the download speeds to download a bluray HD movie in a reasonable time.

I have a 20Mbit connection and I pay just 25€. That fast enough to download a properly encoded BluRay Movie in 40 Minutes (6Gb/720p) oder 80 Minutes (12GB/1080p). So that is actually fast enough to stre@m any HD movie on my TV in real time.

And I could have 32Mbit for 5€ more and 120Mbit pretty soon. I know that there are many areas in the US where you have problems getting a fast connection... but I think downloading/streaming HD-Movies will very soon be bigger than any physical HD-Media in Europe + East-Asia + major Areas in the US, where the majority of all people have access to those kind of connections

edit: still funny that stre@m is censored on this forum :D

The only nuttiness that I've noticed is people getting confused once they get in the checkout line, especially when the line goes around the inside of the store. Or people allowing their friends to cut in front of them in the checkout line. That's a big one.

If you go in with a plan of what you want, you shouldn't have a problem.

i will go to battle on this day... I must... My wife has a walmart discount and ive got time on my hands.. I believe the dreaded wal mart will be my target. I will destroy all the christmas shoppers who get in my way...
I have a secret plan: it involves pooping myself in line and crying: GUARANTEE they will let me get to the front of the checkout line.

also saw where best buy is having an xbox 360 bundle with 6 games for 300 if anyone is interested
